Glowy Guacamole

Cinco de Mayo might have been a few days ago, but it’s got us in the mood for guacamole! You’ll love this Glowy Guacamole, and it’s good for you, too!

Did you know that avocados are actually a fruit? In fact, they are technically a berry with one seed. Avocados are packed with nutrition. Not only are they a great source of healthy fats, but they are also loaded with potassium, fiber, vitamin E and B vitamins.

Cilantro is known to be antimicrobial, has anti-anxiety properties, and cholesterol-lowering effects. It is also loaded with antioxidants, phytonutrients and dietary nitrates (which we talked about with last week’s recipe).

Garlic, while also nutrient-rich, stimulates vital enzymatic processes within the body, helps to protect against atherosclerosis and heart disease, and can help fight infections and even protect against cancer.

Guacamole tastes delicious, but as you can see, it is also packed with good-for-you ingredients. Enjoy your Glowy Guacamole with raw veggies – carrot sticks, celery, cucumber, bell peppers, and jicama are all great choices – for a healthy snack, or on top of chicken or fish for a satisfying meal!


2 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 teaspoons)
3 scallions or red onion, minced (about ¼ cup)
¼ jalapeño, minced
2 avocados, peeled
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (juice of ½ lime)
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
1 pinch sea salt


1. In a medium bowl, combine the garlic, scallions, and jalapeños.
2. Add avocado and mash using the back of a fork.
3. Gently stir in lime juice.
4. Finish with cilantro and sea salt.
